About

After a decade in teaching, sport development and 20 years of football coaching, I decided to start CW Football in March 2022 to share my knowledge with the local community. I now have a range of targeted sessions available for children and adults from beginners to elite level. All genders and abilities are welcome - I am here to support you to take your game to the next level.

Colin Williams

Founder and Head Coach

I’ve been passionate about football from a young age, developing a love for the game from 6 years old playing for my local team in Wales. I was fortunate to experience academy trials with Peterborough United, Swansea City, and the Welsh National Team, yet despite being unsuccessful in my own professional playing journey, I have always been involved in coaching in various capacities for over 20 years. After university, I spent a decade as a teacher, developing my understanding of the mechanics of learning in the classroom, learning how to create a personalised learning experience for every child, and honing my person-centred approach to development. I then followed my passion into sport and football development, which gave me valuable experience developing grassroots and elite football initiatives with Middlesex and Oxfordshire FAs, particularly around disability football.

I draw on these experiences to create a safe, fun and engaging environment for everyone. I enjoy working on athlete’s personal development, and helping to develop their game through the key pillars of football - tactical, technical, psychological and physical. I’m always excited to explore ways to make football more accessible to all, so that everyone can experience the love of the game!

Professional Coaching

Oxford United FC

I am currently working at OUFC’s academy with their transition phase U11s-13s boys team. We compete against other professional EFL academy teams such as Bristol City, Newport County, Swindon Town, Cardiff City and Forest Green Rovers as well as Premier League clubs such as Tottenham Hotspur, Chelsea and Southampton.

Abingdon School

During the Lent term, I am Abingdon School’s Football Professional, working closely with all boys teams from U14s-U18s, with a main focus on the first team. The school play games in National competitions such as the Boodles and ISFA Cup/Trophy competitions. Locally the school plays in the Central Independent Schools League against Radley College, Reading Blue Coat, St Edward’s, Marlborough College, Magdalen College School, Wellington College, and The Oratory School. The school got to the final of the Trophy competition this year in March 2025, narrowly losing 4-5 on penalties to King’s Chester.

Oxfordshire Skill Acquisition Academy (OSAA)

I am currently working with OSAA’s U9-U12 teams, who compete in JPL (Junior Premier League) Foundation Phase (U9s/U10s/11s) and JPL Warriors Competitions (U12s). Both the U10s and U11s in 2024/25 made it through to their respective age group National Finals at St George’s Park.
